Arvind Kejriwal is an Indian politician, former bureaucrat, and activist who is the current and 7th Chief Minister of Delhi since February 2015. He was also the Chief Minister of Delhi from December 2013 to February 2014, stepping down after 49 days of assuming power. Currently, he is the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party, which won the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections with a historic majority, obtaining 67 out of 70 assembly seats. In 2006, Kejriwal was awarded the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Emergent Leadership in recognition of his involvement in the grassroots-level movement Parivartan using right-to-information legislation in a campaign against government corruption.

Family, Early Life, and Education
Arvind was born on 16 August 1968 in Haryana, his father’s name was Gobind Ram Kejriwal he was an electrical engineer. His mother’s name is Geeta Devi she was a homemaker. Arvind was the elder of 3 siblings, his brother’s name is Manoj, and his sister’s name is Ranjana.
Arvind is married to Sunita, who is herself an IRS officer and is currently the Additional Commissioner in the Income Tax Department. The couple has two children, a daughter Harshita and a son Pulkit. Kejriwal has also written a book called ‘Swaraj’.
He completed his early education at Campus School, Hisar and Christian Missionary School, Sonepat.
After school, he enrolled in IIT Kharagpur for his graduation. From here he earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Arvind also registered his success in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and was appointed to work as an IRS officer.

- After earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur, he started his career with Tata Steel in 1989. His posting was done in Jamshedpur.
- After working here for three years, he gave his resignation in 1992, so that he could prepare for the civil service.
- He got success in the civil service examination and from here he started working under the Government of India. From here he understood the ground aspects of politics properly.
Political Career
Arvind Kejriwal worked very actively in Anna Hazare’s Jan Lokpal movement. But due to not getting any direct benefit, the objective of the movement was not successful.
Arvind stepped into politics with the issue of the Jan Lokpal Bill. According to Arvind Kejriwal, when he was working as an IRS officer, he often had to face the problem of corruption. That’s why he left this job.
Where he felt the need to form a party. In November 2012, he laid the foundation of the Aam Aadmi Party.
In 2013, Delhi Legislative Assembly elections, Kejriwal defeated incumbent Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit of the Indian National Congress (INC), in her constituency of New Delhi by a margin of 25,864 votes. In this election, Aam Aadmi Party won 28 out of 70 seats.
Aam Aadmi Party formed the government with outside support due to a lack of a majority. Kejriwal was sworn in as the second-youngest chief minister of Delhi on 28 December 2013. In the 2014 general election, Arvind Kejriwal contested from Varanasi against the BJP prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi. Which he lost by 3,70,000 votes.
In the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP won 67 out of 70 seats. took oath on 14 February 2015 as Delhi’s chief minister for a second time at Ramlila Maidan.
