Dhanush’s real name is Venkatesh Prabhu Kasturi Raja. Dhanush is not only an Indian cine actor, he is also a producer, lyricist and playback singer and mainly works in Tamil cinema. He has also received the National Film Award for Best Actor for the film ‘Aadukalam’. He got international recognition when his song ‘Why this Kolaveri Di’ became a hit on YouTube. At that time this song was on the child’s tongue. After that song, most of the people started knowing him. Family, Early Life and Education
Dhnush was born on 28 July 1983 to Kasturi Raja, a director and producer of Tamil films. At the behest of his brother director Selva Raghavan, he turned to films. He is also the son-in-law of South’s superstar Rajinikanth.
He is married to Aishwarya on 18 November 2004, who is the daughter of superstar Rajinikanth. They have two children – Yatra and Linga. On 17 January 2022, Dhnush and Aishwarya announced their divorce after 18 years of marriage.
Venkatesh Prabhu adopted the screen name “Dhanush” after being inspired by the fictional covert operation from Kuruthipunal (1995).
Dhanush Career
His career started with the film Thulluvadho Ilamai (2002) which was appreciated by most of the critics and public. After this he worked in many films and showed his acting skills.
In 2011, Dhnush’s popular song “Why this Kolaveri Di” from the romantic psychological thriller film 3 became the first Indian music video to cross 100 million views on YouTube.
His debut in Hindi films was with the film Raanjhanaa (2013) which won the hearts of the critics as well as the audience. He entertained everyone with the character ‘Kundan’ played by him, while on the other hand he also made everyone emotional. His work was praised everywhere.
Dhnush produced films through his production company, Wunderbar Films, and he made his directorial debut with Pa Paandi (2017).
