Kalki Koechlin was born a Hindu family on 10 January 1984 in Pondicherry, India. She was born to Joel Koechlin and Francoise Armandie. Kalki has a brother named Oriel Koechlin. She is the granddaughter of Maurice Koechlin, who was the chief engineer of the Statue of Liberty and the Eiffel Tower.
In April 2011, Kalki married Anurag Kashyap in a private ceremony in Ooty. Though, the couple got separated in 2015. Later, She is in a relationship with Guy Hershberg, an Israeli classical pianist. In September 2019, Kalki announced that she was 5 months pregnant from her boyfriend, Guy Hershberg. She gave birth to a baby girl named Sappho on 7 February 2020.

Kalki later appeared in the black comedy movie as a supporting actor in Emotional Atyachaar which was her only cinema appearance in 2010 and achieved her mixed reviews from the critics.
