Family, Early Life and Education

Parag Agarwal studied at Atomic Energy Central School. He later graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay with a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering.

Thereafter, he earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in computer science from Stanford University. While studying at Stanford, he worked with Microsoft, Yahoo! , and has also worked as an intern at AT&T Labs.

As a student, Agarwal worked in the research departments of Microsoft, Yahoo and AT&T Labs. After graduating from Stanford, Parag Agarwal joined Twitter as an advertising engineer.

He served in that position from October 2011 to October 2017. On March 8, 2018, it was publicly announced that Twitter has promoted Agarwal as his CTO.

 His early work as CTO was devoted to increasing the relevance of tweets in the Twitter timeline through the use of artificial intelligence.
