R. Madhavan was born on 1 June 1970 in Jamshedpur (now Jharkhand) in Bihar to Ranganathan Seshadri, a management executive at Tata Steel, and Saroja, a manager at Bank of India, in a Tamil family. His younger sister’s name is Devika and she is a software engineer.
Before debuting in films, R. Madhavan married Sarita Birje in the year 1999, before which he was in a relationship with Sarita for 8 years. They both have a child named Vedaant.
Early Life and Education
He completed his early education from D.B.M.S English School Jamshedpur and completed his further studies from Rajaram College Kolhapur Maharashtra. He also completed his post graduation in public speaking from Kishinchand Chellaram College Mumbai.

In 1988, he got an opportunity to represent his school in Canada as a cultural ambassador on behalf of the school, he had his own goal to serve the country, he wanted to become an army officer but due to some reason he could not be selected, further he Took his step towards public speaking. He used to participate in many types of activities during his college time.
At the age of 22, he became a high level NCC cadets of Maharashtra. Due to which he got an opportunity to go on the trip of NCC cadets of England. Where he got an opportunity to train in the British Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.

R Madhavan started her acting career in the early 1990s in Hindi soap operas like Banegi Apni Baat, Sea Hawks, Ghar Jamai and Saaya.
In the year 2000, director Mani Ratnam gave him a chance in his Tamil romantic film Alaipayuthey. This was his debut film.
In 2001, she got a chance to work in the Hindi film Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, which received mixed reviews.
