Vivek Oberoi was born on 3 September 1976 in Hyderabad, Telangana. His father is Suresh Oberoi, a veteran Bollywood actor and mother Yashodhara Oberoi. His father is a Punjabi by origin. Suresh Oberoi was not an actor till the time of his marriage. He used to run a chain of medical stores, his family business. He later joined the Film and Television Institute of India.
On 29 October 2010, Oberoi married Priyanka Alva, daughter of Karnataka government minister Jeevraj Alva, in Bangalore. Vivek and Priyanka have a son Vivaan, born on 6 February 2013 and a daughter Ameya, who was born on 21 April 2015.
Early Life and Education
Vivek did his schooling from Hyderabad Public School and later attended Mayo College, Ajmer. After this he studied at Mithibai College, Juhu. At an actor’s workshop in London, he was noticed by the director of New York University, who took Vivek to New York. Where he completed his master’s degree in film acting. Vivek also worked as a screenwriter in India.
Career
In the year 2002, Vivek Oberoi started his career with Ram Gopal Varma’s film Company (2002). After this he acted in action films Sadak and Dum.
After this, he acted in Saathiya (2002). The film was a huge hit at the box office and he was nominated for a Filmfare Award in the Best Actor category.
He also acted in the film Masti (2004), Yuva (2004), the title character in the film Krishna: The Warrior Poet (2005).
In the year 2006, he acted in the film Omkara. Which was an adaptation of Shakespeare’s play Othello. He played Kesu, based on the character Michael Cassio in the original play.
