Zoya was born on 14 October 1972 in Mumbai to Javed Akhtar. Javed Akhtar is a famous Bollywood writer, poet. His mother’s name is Honey Irani, who is a Bollywood actress. Zoya’s stepmother Shabana Azmi is also a well-known Bollywood actress. Zoya Akhtar has an elder brother- Farhan Akhtar who is a director, producer, actor and writer. Zoya Akhtar is the cousin of director-choreographer Farah Khan and director Sajid Khan.
